W. T. PRESTON (1939) is one of two surviving U.S. Army Corps of Engineers snagboats and bucket dredges. Snagboats were part of a nationwide, decades-long commitment by the Army Corps to river and harbor improvement in the United States. W. T. PRESTON worked nearly 11 months of each year removing large pieces of drift, waterlogged pilings and logs, derelict boats, ships, airplanes, and debris.
