Birth of Barack Obama
A six-year-old Barack Obama moves with his mother to Jakarta, Indonesia, the home of her second husband Lolo Soetoro.
Worried for his safety and education in Jakarta, Ann Dunham sends her son Barack Obama back to Hawaii to live with her parents. She later joins him there.
Barack Obama graduates with academic honors from Punahou Academy in Hawaii, where he is one of only three black students.
