Ashdown House is a Grade I listed hunting lodge built in the latter part of the 17th century for William 1st Earl of Craven. The primary building material is chalk with Bath stone stacks and reveals. The purpose of this image is to show the bulging of the wall, apparently caused by pressure from the chimney stack. Link It has been in the ownership of the National Trust since 1956 and is tenanted. Geographically it is located just inside the southern edge of this square although a small part of the south-western corner extends into SU2881 by about 350 mm.
