Gunston Hall from the air in late spring. Dogwood trees are in bloom, which means that it is around May 1.
Gunston Hall was the home of George Mason (1725-1792), a large landowner. It was my favorite sightseeing attraction in Northern Virginia. Mason built it in 1755-1759, and played a role in designing it. The garden is an English style, and has a lot of boxwood.
Gunston Hall is more elaborate than Mount Vernon, particularly in interior design, furnishings, and garden. The Masons were richer than the Washingtons.
