Fotheringhay castle footprint from the past, where a Queen was beheaded

The motte and bailey remains of Fotheringhay castle where Mary Queen of Scots was beheaded back in 8 February 1587. The mound viewed against a cloudy sky one afternoon. This is one of my favourite places ever since the primary school visit when I was a very wee lad.
