The Continental Army stayed in winter quarters in Valley Forge for over six weeks in the winter of 1777-1778. Valley Forge is about 18 miles (30 km) northwest of Philadelphia, which was occupied by the British army. These are replicas of some of the cabins which the 12,000 soldiers built for the winter. The encampment is now a National Historic Park.
