Possibly 18th century. Squared pink sandstone rubble domical ice house set beneath bridge arch. Square-headed passage accessing semi-subterranean , oval-shaped chamber. Coursed sandstone inner lining. Modern railings dividing passage and chamber.

Paxton House Estate A Group comprises 'Boundary Walls, Railings & Gatepiers', 'Bridge', 'Dene Cottage', 'The Dower House', 'Entrance comprising South Lodge, East Lodge, Quadrant Walls, Piers & Entrance Screen', 'Garden Cottage', 'Ice House', 'North Lodge & West Lodge', 'Paxton House', 'Walled Garden' - see separate list entries. Set within the boundaries of the INVENTORY site. Deliberately sited in a cool, dark space beneath the bridge arch, this ice house remains a good example of its fairly typical type.
