II Farmhouse. Late C16, extended early C17, encased 1873 by the Kimberley estate. Timber-frame faced with brick and decorative plain tile roof (fishscale in 2 broad bands). Gable end, ridge and rear stacks with linked ornamental flues. Extended lobby-entrance plan later lean-to addition to part of rear. 2 storeys and attic. EXTERIOR. Brick walling completely encases the timber-frame. Main front of a 7-window range at first floor with square bays and casements below and door to centre left. 2 dormers with barge boards. Moulded brick recessed panel on right gable end with date1873 and Wodehouse crest. INTERIOR. Timber frame is of 5 bays including stack bay and former stack bay. Bridging beams with wide chamfers. Added parlour to south end with ovolo-moulded beams. At first floor tie beams with most arched braces still in situ on west side. Roof structure of clasped purlins with reduced principals much repaired in northern half of building whilst to south in unaltered condition with windbraces and purlins intact This is a fine example of a timber-framed farmhouse upgraded with a carefully detailed encasing in the C19 by the Kimberley estate and it forms part of a good farmstead group with the barn to west (q.v.) and the granary to south (q.v.).
