Includes: Binfield Court TERRACE ROAD NORTH. Large house in landscaped grounds. c1830. MATERIALS: Greyish-purple brick with red dressings, and red brick in Flemish bond; low-pitched, hipped slate roof. PLAN: rectangular plan with service wing extension on north-west. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Several chimneys with clay pots. Sash windows with glazing bars with gauged brick arches. Deep wooden eaves soffit with paired modillions. Entrance (north-east) front: 7-bays; 2 outer bays slightly set back and with stone bands at first floor level. First bay is blank. Windows on ground floor are in round arched recesses. Long casement window on first floor gives access to balcony with iron railings over Doric porch; pair of half glazed doors with leaded overlight. INTERIOR: sitting room: ceiling cornice with egg-and-dart ornament. White marble chimneypiece with panelled pilasters, scrolled brackets to moulded shelf. Drawing room: white marble chimneypiece with fluted pilasters, carved cornice with vase and swags in centre; corn sheafs in top corners; bead and reel ornament to moulded shelf. Window shutters intact in principal rooms. Geometrical staircase with metal balusters and wreathed handrail.
