RAWCLIFFE POST OFFICE ROW SE 62 SE (west side) 3/28 Nos 1 and 2 GV II House, now 2 dwellings. Mid-late C17, with later insertion of shop, and alterations and repairs of 1983 including re-roofing. Red brick in English bond, rendered to left return. Clay tile roof. 2-room central entrance- hall plan, with later kitchen outshut to left. 2 storeys, 5 unequal bays defined by full-height pilasters, those flanking second bay removed below first-floor level. Stepped plinth. Wide fourth bay has step to C20 door beneath inserted soldier arch. C20 casement beneath concrete lintel to fifth bay. To left: step to blocked door and C20 casement in blocked former shop window opening; C19 post box in brick and ashlar surround. 2-course brick first-floor band. First floor: C20 casement to second bay flanked by truncated pilasters carried on C20 brick corbels; C20 casement to fifth bay; small blocked windows to remaining bays. Modillioned brick eaves cornice. Raised verges, brick-coped gables. End stacks. Rear elevation has plinth, pilasters and cornice. Interior contains chamfered spine beams, wide chimneys flanked by blocked attic openings. No 1 empty and unoccupied at time of resurvey.
