PLAXTOL WINFIELD LANE (north side) Clakkers Hall

Farmhouse. Late C15-early C16 hall-house. Irregular ground floor of coursed, galletted rubble stone and red brick with some exposed timber-framing. Timber-framing above with one curved brace to right and plater infilling. Plain tiled hipped roof brought down as catslides to left and right. Off-ridge stack off-centre to right. Slope stack on each catslide extension. Two-storeys; 4 window, irregular sized casements. Boarded door to left of second window from left. Interior. Two crown posts, plus hall crown-post, heavily moulded on arched tie-beam. Moulded dais-beam with crenellated cresting. One doorway, to original parlour, with moulded wooden Tudor arch surround. One room with heavily moulded ceiling beams.
