I highly recommend a visit to Hampton Court Palace if you have time while visiting London. It's an short train ride out of the city and a pleasant walk from Hampton Court Station to the palace. I loved the different eras represented in the art and architecture, primarily Tudor Gothic and English Baroque.

You could and should spend all day here, given the size of the palace and the extensive gardens. Food is available in a cafe inside. When I visited in 2012, I managed it in just over two hours, including the walk from the station and a quick break for lunch. I saw most of the palace, but at a fairly fast pace, and only a little bit of the beautiful gardens. I had to be back in London in time to see what I could see at the premiere of Skyfall at the Royal Albert Theatre!
