S. S. Eaves House Decatur, Tennessee

Well it is sad to see that the place is being torn down. Right now the wrap around porch and lattice have been removed and disposed of. It could have been beautifully restored. All the windows have been broken out and all that's left is basically the outside shell. Of course I have not been inside. I'd sure love to have seen it in its prime and even after all these years I'd like to have seen it.

I am a distant relation of the Eaves family and I think it is so sad that such a beautiful and historic home is sitting vacant and absolutely falling apart. The house wont be standing in a few more years. It is especially tragic that nothing has been done to save this treasure since its previous owner, the late Flossie Eaves, was such an important member of Decatur's historic preservation society. Something should be done to save her own piece of history!
