William H. McGuffey Primary School Charlottesville, Virginia

I attended McGuffey Elementary School from the first grade through the seventh grade. (1951-1958) I lived only about 3 blocks from the school. I remember it vividly and it was wonderful! There was once a live Oak tree on the playground and its branches (which were enormous) touched the ground. I and the other children climbed in the tree and sat on the branches during recess. I have no printed information about the school, only my memories of those years and those wonderful teachers, Miss Clements, Mrs. Burnley, Miss Burnett, Mrs.Barksdale, Miss Werner, Mrs. Showalter, and Mrs. Sims. William H. McGuffey Primary School was a wonderful place to grow up and a terrific learning center.
