I lived at the Farm Home from August 1948 until March of 1950. I lived in the Portland Cottage and it was the Hospital Cottage at that time. It had a small addition that was on the east end that was used as a nurses station. The cottage had two bedrooms on the ground floor. One was for the nurse and her husband and the other was for the House Auntie. The House mother had a room upstairs. There was one longer room on the Northwest corner of the building that was for the hospital patients. I only remember a couple of times that room was occupied during the time I was there. Port!and cottage was used for both boys and girls. When I was there it had younger boys and older girls. I saw in the history of the farm that the Powered Cottage was the hospital..Since I don't recall a Cottage with that name, perhaps the Portland was called that at an earlier time.
