Ainsworth House Portland, Oregon

I worked at 2542 SW Hillcrest Drive in the early 1980s for Mrs. Thompson as a gardner and to help around the place when needed, sometimes house sitting and I'd sleep in the ballroom on one of the lounging beds overlooking the Fremont Bridge. It was a grand place indeed, I'm pretty sure the landing on the staircase was as big as the living room in the house I grew up in Southern Oregon, it had a grand piano, love seat and chair occupying the area I'd never been in a home that was this large and beautiful, It was such a delight asvI had been living in a studio apt in downtown Portland until I started working there as the maid of many years retired so they took me in and treated me with kindness and respect just like Helen did when she'd see a homeless dog running loose she'd pick them up in the Cadillac and bring them home and give them a wonderful home, she was a God Send and helped many people, I was able to further my education getting jobs in Administrative Offices first at Leading Technologies in Beaverton and then Multnomah County Health Dept for many years until I retired in 2010. It was great!
