Santo Domingo el Antiguo
Overview
A few minutes' walk north of San Román in Toledo is Santo Domingo, a 16th-century convent church with El Greco connections.
Description
Santo Domingo contains the earliest of El Greco's Toledo paintings as well as the crypt where the artist is believed to be buried (visible through a peephole in the floor).
The friendly nuns at the convent are happy to show visitors around an odd little museum that includes documents bearing El Greco's signature.
