The monument comprises a barrow of prehistoric date, visible as a mound in a cultivated field on the gentle north-east slopes of Pearie Law 425m north west of Vein Syke waterway.
The southwest corner of the abandoned steading of Kipsyke is situated about 20m south of the barrow. The barrow measures about 25m in diameter from north-west to south-east by 20m transversely and stands about 1m above present ground level. A broad shallow depression around the base of the mound is probably the remains of a silted-up ditch.
The area to be scheduled is a circle of diameter 35m centred on the centre of the barrow, to include the barrow and an area around in which evidence relating to its construction and use may survive, as marked in red on the accompanying map. The above-ground remains of the nearby farmstead, although falling within the circle, are excluded from scheduling.
