The monument is of national importance because of its potential to contribute to our understanding of prehistoric settlement and economy. The area in and around the enclosure may be expected to contain material relating to the economy and environment of the site.

The monument comprises the remains of an enclosed settlement of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.

The monument lies on sloping ground in arable farmland at around 190m OD. It comprises a sub-circular, bivallate enclosure approximately 160m in diameter, with an inner and outer ditch separated by some 30m. The ditches are some 5 to 8m wide. Although the cropmarks define only the N part of the settlement it is likely that it continues in the fields to the E where crop conditions were not conducive to the production of cropmarks.

The area to be scheduled encompasses the visible features and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a maximum diameter of 190m as marked in red on the accompanying map. The road cutting through the site is excluded from scheduling.
