The monument comprises the remains of an enclosed settlement of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies on locally high ground in arable farmland at around 205m OD, commanding extensive views over the surrounding area. It comprises a D-shaped enclosure measuring some 90m by 90m. It may well extend further to the NE but this part of the monument has been planted and is not likely to survive archaeologically. The enclosing ditch is approximately 2m wide with no clearly defined entrance. There is a faint trace of a possible outer ditch.
The area to be scheduled comprises the visible remains and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is semi-circular with a diameter of 130m as shown in red on the accompanying map.
