The monument is of national importance because of its potential to add to our understanding of prehistoric settlement and economy. Its importance is enhanced by its association with the wider landscape of prehistoric settlement remains in the vicinity.

The monument comprises the remains of an enclosed settlement of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.

The monument lies on gently sloping ground in arable farmland at around 110m OD. It comprises an ovoid enclosure defined by a ditch some 4-5m wide, measuring some 60m N-S by 50m, with a well-defined, N-facing entrance. A dark cropmark within the enclosure may indicate the remains of deposits relating to comtemporary occupation.

The monument lies in an area rich in the remains of prehistoric settlement sites. The area to be scheduled encompasses the visible features and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 100m as marked in red on the accompanying map.
