Antonine Wall 350m SSE of Inchyra Grange Hotel Grangemouth, Falkirk Council Area, Scotland, UK

The monument comprises the remains of a section of the Antonine Wall.

The Antonine Wall at this point would have consisted of a turf

rampart on a stone base, with a wide ditch to the north and a small upcast mound on the north lip of the ditch.

The monument comprises the remains of a section of the Antonine Wall.

The Antonine Wall at this point would have consisted of a turf

rampart on a stone base, with a wide ditch to the north and a small upcast mound on the north lip of the ditch. Limited excavations

earlier this century identified traces of the buried rampart, while

the ditch is visible as a slight hollow to the west of the area

proposed for scheduling.

The area to be scheduled measures 80m E-W by 25m N-S, to include the ditch and upcast bank of the Antonine Wall and an area to the N and S which may contain traces of activities associated with the construction and use of the Wall, as shown in red on the attached plan.
