The Old Ursuline Convent in New Orleans has the honor of being the oldest building in the Mississippi Valley. It was constructed in French Colonial style 1745-53 for nuns from Normandy to nurse the poor and teach young girls. Today it is a museum and part of the Catholic Cultural Heritage Center.
