Astoria-Megler Bridge Astoria, Oregon

  • Memory by Ivan B. (irberry2023@gmail.com) on September 11, 2023

Back in the 60s the ship I was on at the time made a trip to Astoria and they were just building this bridge then . We tried to have seaplanes do operations in the river but the current was too swift to take off in . Then hooked JATO (jet assisted takeoff) tanks on the planes and that brought them up very fast. The navy had a lot of old decommissioned ships at Tongue Point at that time.
