The Church of St Mary was founded in the 11th century on the site of a small "alien priory", originally tied to the Abbey of Fecamp in Normandy. The village of Cogges, (Coggs), was decimated during the "Black Death" but now forms a suburb of the town of Witney, Oxfordshire.
