SO 82 NE DEERHURST DEERHURST WALTON

3/56 Notcliffe House II Farmhouse. C18, early Cl9, third quarter C19, minor alterations C20. Smooth render to front, lined as ashlar, on brickwork; rear brick in various bonds; tiled roofs, slated to music room. Four- window, one-room deep front, 3 storeys, single-storey, single-room extension left front; 2½-storey rear wing forming 'L' to main front, with further 2-storey wing returning at back. Front, framed Tuscan pilasters, plinth, 4-pane sash left, moulded surround; single-storey, flat roofed Tuscan porch to right, painted wooden columns front, pilasters against house, moulded cornice, over 6- panel door, bottom 2 flush, with rectangular light over, marginal lights. Two 4-pane sashes, moulded surrounds, originally French doors: outline of verandah roof over. Gable of lean-to greenhouse beyond, late C20 replacing earlier. Above plain string course, 4 windows as ground floor, plain string course, four 6-pane sashes, moulded cornice, plain parapet. Parapet gables, gable chimneys. Slightly projecting on left music room, framed pilasters as house, plinth, paired 2-pane sashes, moulded surround, cornice over with scroll brackets, right one missing-. Moulded cornice and plain parapet hiding hipped roof; large brick chimney from rear, moulded stone cap. Interior: 6-panel doors ground floor front, fluted architraves. Panelled shutters and moulded cornice to music room. Probably C18 brick house, 2½ storeys, altered early C19, either then or later C19 roof level raised, front rendered and ground floor decorative plasterwork reformed, music room added.
