SETTLE DUKE STREET SD 8063-8163 (west side) 10/17 Co-op Butchers and Anthony Shaw GV II Formerly part of Commercial Hotel, now shops. Dated 1774. Watershot masonry. Pointed stone dressings, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 4 bays. Left hand bay has coach entrance with surround of milled stone: rusticated jambs, round headed arch and dated keystone. C20 shop front and entrance to Co-op and C20 door to Anthony Shaw on right. Four upper floor windows have plain surrounds with pro- jecting sills and C20 casements. Projecting quoins. Heavy eaves cornice. Late C19 glazed dormer. Gable end ridge stack and stack to right of carriage entrance. Included for group value.
