Part of the Cathedral Priory of St Mary, founded in 1043. The Undercrofts are the best preserved remains of Coventry's original Benedictine monastry. They consist of stone vaulted rooms, a courtyard, doorways and passages. The white paint indicates those parts that were the outside of the buildings. Grade I Listed Building. There is, or was until recently, a crudely vaulted crypt below, approximately 75 Yds x 5 yds. Vide Blue Coat School below.

Descriptive Notes, fifth and sixth lines, should be amended to read: "and pier responds Vide Blue Coat School below".
