    My mother the writer Verily Anderson grew up in this house and wrote about it in her book The Last of the Eccentrics, published in 1972, about her father Rosslyn Bruce who was rector there.https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3640678-the-last-of-the-eccentrics
    She also wrote The Castellans of Herstmonceux Castle about the people who'd lived there.
