Description
old-fashioned flower design element

Founded in 1906, the Golden West Hotel was built to accommodate black railway workers who could not stay in Portland's white-owned hotels. It was a center of African American social life until it closed in 1931. Later used as low-cost housing, it is now owned by Central City Concern.
