The monument is of national importance because of its potential to contribute to our understanding of prehistoric settlement and economy. The ditches of the enclosure may be expected to contain material relating to the economy and environment of the site while the interior appears to contain the buried remains of former structures.

The monument comprises the remains of an enclosed settlement of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.

The monument lies on level ground in arable farmland at around 200m OD. It comprises a sub-rectangular enclosure with sides approximately 50m NE-SW by 120m NW-SE. Its ditches are some 3m wide. Its SE side is less clearly defined than the others and there are indications of a smaller sub-rectangular enclosure partially overlapping with this end. Dark patches inside the enclosure may indicate remains of structures or areas of activity.

The monument appears to represent the remains of a later prehistoric enclosed settlement of some complexity, possibly with surviving internal structural remains.

The area to be scheduled encompasses the visible features and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is rectangular with maximum dimensions of 90m NE-SW and 210m NW-SE as marked in red on the accompanying map.
