Gunston Hall from Air, Postcard

Gunston Hall from the air in late spring. Dogwood trees are in bloom, which means that it is around May 1.

Gunston Hall was the home of George Mason (1725-1792), a large landowner. It was my favorite sightseeing attraction in Northern Virginia. Mason built it in 1755-1759, and played a role in designing it. The garden is an English style, and has a lot of boxwood.

Gunston Hall is more elaborate than Mount Vernon, particularly in interior design, furnishings, and garden. The Masons were richer than the Washingtons. Gunston Hall, Mason Neck, Virginia, USA.
