Exterior of Ely Cathedral's unique Octagon tower. The original Norman crossing tower fell down in 1322. Bishop Hotham worked with the abbey's prior and sacrist to devise a unique solution for the crossing, which was completed in 1340. The Octagon lantern is covered in lead and weighs 200 tons.
