Portable Altar of Begon, 1100
Bearing an inscription indicating it was commissioned by Abbot Begon in 1100, this portable altar is made of porphyry and has a hollow cavity for a relic of the True Cross. It is framed by gilded silver, with portraits of St. Foy, Christ, the Virgin Mary, and other saints around the edges. Conques Treasury, Conques, France.
