South Tower, 1140s

South Tower, 1140s

View from south of the Romanesqe south tower of Chartres Cathedral, a beautiful but plain square tower with pyramid spire dating from the 1140s. It rises 349 feet (105m) high. The north spire does not match this one; it is in a Flamboyant Gothic style of the 16th century. Chartres Cathedral, Chartres, France.
