In a few weeks we going to San Francisco! We made this somewhat spur-of-the-moment decision because: 1) I discovered a conference scheduled for April 22 that I would love to go to, and 2) I've been wanting to go to San Francisco for years! The closest I've been is a layover at the airport. David has visited a few times before but loves it, so we're both quite excited.
We are going to drive down on Monday, April 20, giving us a full day of sightseeing before my conference on Wednesday. It's called ADSPACE and is mainly about Google's web advertising. For the not-so-cheap price of registration, I also get to check out the exhibit hall of a larger conference called ad:tech, which deals with all manner of web advertising. Hopefully it will all be very informative and make me even better at webmastering.
We are booked for four nights at a cute boutique hotel on Union Square called, rather unimaginatively, Hotel Union Square. We may end up staying there a little longer than four nights, or we might stop for a night or two in Napa Valley, Mount Shasta, Crater Lake, or similar.
We are still planning to drive to Minnesota in mid-May, so it will be quite a busy travel time for awhile! But we've had a good winter rest, and we're both ready to dust off the cameras and get back on the road again.
Fun fact: this time last year, we were in Ruvo di Puglia in southeast Italy.
