Romanesque

Romanesque is a style of medieval architecture and art that flourished in Europe between about 900 or 1000 (sources differ) and 1200 CE. It was named for its similarities to Roman architecture, but Byzantine and Northern European styles were also influential. Characteristic features of Romanesque architecture include: round arches, massive pillars, heavy walls, small windows, and carved decoration.
