Description
The Lewis and Clark Expedition was an overland journey of discovery across the American West undertaken between 1804 and 1806 by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. Sent by Thomas Jefferson to find the Northwest Passage (a water route to the Pacific), Lewis and Clark did not acheive their primary mission. Instead, they succeeded in traveling safely overland, creating valuable maps, documenting hundreds of plant and animal species, and sparking interest in westward expansion.
