Image: Bell Idol from Thebes, Louvre Museum, Paris
Bell idol made in Thebes (Boeotia), c. 700 BCE, isolated on white. Terracotta, painted with birds, geometrical designs, swastikas and plants. The statue may have had a funerary function and the boots suggest the hunter goddess Artemis. Department of Greek, Etruscan and Roman Antiquities: Pre-Classical Greece, Louvre Museum, Paris.
