Image: Portrait of the deceased
We made a day trip into the Czech Republic from Regensburg to visit the home village of some of my ancestors. My great-grandfather was born here in 1878 when it was a German-speaking village called Wassersuppen. He emigrated with his family to Minnesota, USA, in 1885. Today Wassersuppen is called Nemanice and is just across the German border in the Czech Republic.
I couldn't find inscriptions on any of these old tombstones, but the photographs are wonderfully intriguing. I wonder if my great-grandfather knew this person.
