Bronze figure of Santinatha, 16th tirthankara of Jainism. From Rajasthan, western India, 1168 AD. Santinatha is meditating on a cushion and flanked with attendants holding fly-whisks. The back-plate is decorated with celestial attendants, elephants and musicians. Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
