Image: Great east window (c.1350)

With an area the size of a tennis court, Gloucester Cathedral's Great East Window vies with that at York Minster for the title of largest stained glass window in England. It was installed in about 1350 and still has most of its medieval glass. The canopies over the saints exactly match the canopies carved of wood for the choir stalls of the same date.

At the top are angels, followed by Christ and Mary flanked by apostles. Below them are various saints and at the bottom are kings, bishops and abbots. The lowest tier has coats of arms and medallions.
