- Caption
- One of the earliest alabaster carvings in England, commissioned by Edward III. The tomb of the slain king attracted many pilgrims in the 14th century, whose offerings funded the major expansion and renovation of the east end in 1331-50. The tomb is currently undergoing major restoration work - this photo was managed by my tall husband pointing his camera over scaffolding. History, info, and lots more photos: Gloucester Cathedral
