corbel 47: greased pig

Part of the Fair theme. A pig grasped by a man around its neck, representing the contest in which whoever could catch a greased pig could keep it.

Kilpeck Church, Herefordshire, England. Constructed in 1140 and famed for its beautifully preserved Romanesque sculpture.
