Münster's Gothic Rathaus (Town Hall) is home to the "Freedom Hall" where the Peace of Westphalia was signed in 1648. Displayed here, and unrelated to the treaty, are an old shoe and a shriveled hand, presumably from an errant scribe who wrote something he shouldn't.
