Title
Nave Looking East
Location
Münster Cathedral, Münster, Germany
Caption
Nave of Münster Cathedral looking east. Construction on the present building began around 1225, during the Transitional period between Romanesque and Gothic. It was consecrated in 1264. The interior is unique, with only two bays in the nave. The two bays are very wide, giving the interior an open and airy feel. On a pillar opposite the entrance is a huge sculpture of the giant St. Christopher with the Christ Child on his shoulder, carved in 1627 by Johann von Bocholt.
