ODD RODE C.P. (Off) CHURCH LANE SJ 85 NW Scholar Green 8163 5748 7/77 Obelisk at Rode Hall 14.2.67 - II

Obelisk on plinth. C18 or C19. Yellow sandstone ashlar. Plinth of square section with chamfered upper edge supporting obelisk formed of two sections of yellow sandstone with chamfered edges. The upper stone of the obelisk is a replacement and local legend records that there was previously a sculpture on top of the lower pillar which showed a woman seated on a stone chair holding a basket of eggs. The monument formerly stood at Kent Green where it was listed in 1967.
