7/71 Moor's Farmhouse - - II

Farmhouse. C17. Rendered timber frame with brick infill and English garden wall bond and Flemish bond brick. Plain tile roof. Entrance front: to right is the timber framed portion of 2 bays with two 3-light C19 casement windows to the first floor and to the ground floor 2 similar windows with, at left of centre, a plank door with C19 gabled porch in front. To the left of this a portion of late C18 Flemish bond walling with blue vitrified headers around which has been added C19 English garden wall bond brickwork extending to the left and having 3-light casement windows to the ground and first floors. The right hand gable-end has a brick chimney stack to the centre. The ground floor is of C20 brick and the first floor is jettied, the timbers of which are obscured by pebbledash render. Similarly, masked jettied gable above, with a single-light attic window at left. C20 outshut to right at ground floor level. The rear has C20 brickwork to the ground floor with a lean-to at right and three 2-light ground floor casement windows. The first floor is jettied and has a single light window of 3 x 2 panes at right and a 2-light casement window at left. Interior: To the ground floor rooms are ovolo moulded ceiling beams with ogee end stops. Small-framed dividing wall with tension braces. Plank doors with strap hinges. Staircase of six flights, open well having square newels bearing concave finials supporting faceted balls. Similar drops to the underside of the newels. One surviving splat baluster with moulded edges indicating the original pattern. Wall posts to one first floor room with ovolo-moulded edges and with moulded consoles supporting ovolo-moulded ceiling beams. Two purlins and ridge to roof with wind bracing.
