TUSHINGHAM CUM GRINDLEY C.P. COOKS LANE SJ 54 NW (East side) 3/85 Tushingham Hall. 22/10/52 II

Hall, early C19 incorporating C17 features, some brought in; of rendered brick with grey slate roofs. 2 storeys; 3 windows. Tudor Revival symmetrical front with recessed centre of 1 window above canted open porch with 3 Tudor arches and parapet. Glazed double doors in panelled case; a blank loophole in each canted face of porch. The mullioned 2-light central window contains 2 8-pane sashes under a label, surmounted by a wreath below a false shaped gable with a diamond-flue chimney at each corner. Each cross-wing has a 3-light mullioned window to each storey; 18-pane sashes below, 8-pane above; mock-crenellated gables. A diminishing chimney at each outer corner has a single diagonal flue. Interior: not inspected, but C17 open-well stair with heavy turned balusters, moulded panelled plaster ceilings in the front rooms, massive overmantels and 6-panel doors can be discerned. The stair is stated to be from Ravenscroft Hall.
