TL8564SE ABBEY PRECINCTS 639-1/8/107 (West side) 12/07/72 Outbuilding to No.3 Crown Street
GV II
Outbuilding, formerly a coach house and stable, now a garage with living accommodation above. Later C19. In flint with stone dressings and quoins; plaintiled roof on 2 levels with a flat top. One storey and attic. The front has 2 arched doorways, one with a semicircular head, the other wider and segmental-headed, in stone with details in Norman style. On the upper storey, a long inserted dormer has 4 adjacent 2-light single bar casement windows. In the upper part of the north gable wall a blocked window opening in Norman style with part of a blocked circular lunette above it, indicating that the flat top to the roof is secondary. The lower part of the gable wall has been replaced by red brick. INTERIOR not inspected.
